OCR Announces Food Produce Traceability Capabilities
Markham, ON, February 3, 2010 – OCR is pleased to announce its Produce Traceability program.
When it comes to traceability for fresh fruits and vegetables, OCR has the products that you need. Produce traceability has been an concern for Canadian consumers and produce handlers recognize the need to adequately addressed this. OCR is here to help growers and produce handlers trace food lots.
Traceability for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables has been spearheaded by GS1. GS1 is a global standard organization active in over 100 countries. It is dedicated to the design and implementation of global standards for use in the supply chain. GS1 and the International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS) announced the release of the Traceability for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Implementation Guide, based on the GS1 Global Traceability Standard. These standards provide a framework that allows products, services and information about them to move efficiently and securely for the benefit of businesses and the improvement of people’s lives, everyday, everywhere. For Growers, Packers/Re-packers, Distributors/Traders, Foodservice Operators/ Retail Stores, Wholesalers, Jobbers, Brokers, Growers, Shippers, Third Party (cold) Storage and any other companies in the business of distributing produce, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, plants.
OCR offers both lightweight and heavy duty software applications that help produce handlers meet these standards set out.
