Applications
Symbol Technologies' LP 1500 Series of bar code readers are compact, economical, and easy to use. Aimed at low throughput applications, they are an ideal entry into the world of keyless data collection.
The wands are as easy to use as a pen! Just sweep the wand across the bar code symbol and a beep from the attached controller lets you know the data has been captured. What could be simpler than that?
LP 1500 wands are available with either a visible red or infrared (invisible) light source. Most customers prefer a wand with a red lighted tip. However, in environments where the bar code can get dirty, an infrared wand can be used, provided the carbon content of the symbol is high.
For every Symbol interface controller, there is a compatible 12 or 5 volt version of the wand. To achieve the best reading results, the wand aperture must be matched with the size of the symbol. To provide a solution for all applications, a full range of wands is available, ranging from 10 mils (low density) to 6 mils (high density). A very high density 4 mil version is also available for special applications.
Systems Compatibility
Using Symbol interface controllers, wands can be connected to a wide range of computer systems and POS terminals. Installation is easy. Just plug the wand into the scanner port on the interface controller, connect the controller to the computer or POS terminal, and you're ready to read bar codes. If your application requires a local area network, you can use wands with Symbol Technologies' LL 701 Scanning Network with up to 32 work stations. LP 1500 Series wands are designed for use in low throughput applications. However, as your data processing needs change, your wand-based system doesn't lose its magic. It's easily upgraded to accommodate the increased volume. Just replace the wand with a Symbol hand-held laser scanner. No software changes are required.
