Slated as a "smart thin client", this new terminal in the LINX product line offers unparalleled flexibility in terms of performance, functionality, and implementation. With three initial operating modes (and more to follow in subsequent releases), the LINX 7-5 fits into any Ethernet-enabled enterprise architecture. By placing state-of-the-art hardware into the immensely popular LINX V form-factor, the LINX 7-5 is not only ideal for new installations, but can be used as a natural migration path for existing LINX V installations.
The impressive hardware specifications include a 66MHZ Motorola Coldfire Processor, 2MB of FLASH, 16MB of SDRAM, 512K of battery backed SRAM, 10/100 ENET, 3 TTL outputs, 3 isolated inputs, and a built-in relay. Those customers familiar with the existing LINX V will see that the barcode, magnetic strip, keyboard (QWERTY and 24 Key only), and RS-232 ports are all also available on the unit.
From the standpoint of software, the LINX 7-5 has very little in common with its predecessor. The real-time OS allows for an internal web server, an FTP server, as well as a complete file system and TCP/IP stack. This means the terminal can used fixed or dynamically assigned IP management, and can be completely configured through a standard web browser.
It can be programmed using Visual Studio .NET, or using our table-driven T&A / Access Control configurator, or in C using our API.
