OCR Announces the P370 Cordless Data Entry Validation system
Markham, ON, August 17, 2009 – OCR is pleased to announce the P370 Cordless
Data Entry Validation System.
One of the challenges of using a wireless hand-held barcode scanner, combined
with a Windows application, is the ability to know whether the scan was a
success or a failure. There’s no indication as to whether or not the data was
valid. With the new Cordless Data Entry Validation Software developed by OCR,
any Windows application can use a portable P370 Motorola Scanner and have the
user informed of data entry errors.
Most accounting applications and/or other software used to gather information for
storage into a database, do not implement remote cordless barcode scanning and
thus do not respond back to the remote scanner as to whether the data was valid or not.
With the new Cordless Data Entry Validation Software developed by OCR, any
Windows application can use a portable P370 Motorola Scanner and have the user
informed of data entry errors immediately.
Have you ever tried to scan serial numbers into an accounting system using a
cordless barcode scanner? With a keyboard wedge implementation, if the user
scans an invalid barcode, the user would not be informed of the error until they
return to their computer screen to see it displayed. Now, you can have the error
displayed on the scanner screen immediately when the user makes an erroneous
scan.
As long as the windows application displays an error on entry, that error can
be transmitted to the scanner and displayed for the user to react to. The user
will not be able to continue to scan data until the error is cleared on the
computer screen. Now a cordless hand-held scanner can have improved feedback to
prevent multiple errors by users scanning merrily along without being
cognizant of an error in the application.
Obtaining timely confirmation that the host has received the scan successfully
leads to increased confidence in and acceptance of the cordless hand-held
barcode scanner. Also, acknowleged successful scanning also increases productivity and reduces
down times due to correcting erroneous data.
Try out a complimentary week's evaluation of the software and
scanner. Please request information from us on the "Cordless Data Entry
Validation" software and P370 hardware. The system is currently on sale for $900
including both hardware and software.
