Bar Code Slot Readers Bar Code Slot Readers
Input devices that read barcodes off of identity cards such as driver’s licenses or library ID cards. Typically consists of a reader, decoder, and host interface cable.
CCDs CCDs
Charge Coupled Device (CCD) scanner. CCD scanners are non-contact barcode readers and an inexpensive laser scanner alternative. Scan distances are typically 0 to 3 inches from the barcode.
Decoders Decoders
Barcode equipment that receives TTL signals from a scanner (i.e. wand, laser, or CCD) and performs the algorithm to translate the signal into meaningful data. The decoder transmits the information to the host computer through an interface cable connecting the keyboard to the host system or via other transmission processes.
Fixed Mount Scanners Fixed Mount Scanners
Hands free scanners that are commonly used with automatic conveyors in the manufacturing facilities. They allow for packages to be read at high speed regardless of label applications.
Hands Free Presentation Scanners Hands Free Presentation Scanners
Laser barcode reader used to read barcodes of off object passed in front of the scanner. Not for unattended operation (see Fixed Mount Scanners). Products are hand fed and can be scanned in any orientation.
Imagers Imagers
Need to read more than just barcodes? Image readers can be configured as either hand held or fixed mount devices for reading and decoding two dimensional (2D) symbologies and OCR text, as well as capturing images for signature capture and related applications.
Kiosks Kiosks
Interactive customer devices allow customers to quickly and easily verify the price of bar coded merchandise and obtain up-to-the-minute information on in-store promotions while they shop.
Lasers Lasers
Barcode reading devices that use a coherent laser light beam to illuminate the barcode symbol. Laser scanners are non-contact reading devices that can scan barcodes from 3 inches to 30 feet away!
OEM Scan Engines OEM Scan Engines
An OEM scan module is a bar code reading device that is usually incorporated into another device to read bar codes automatically without human intervention. The module does not have an external case or shell. It becomes a component of the host device, defined during the design process and installed during the manufacturing process.
Wands Wands
Contact scanning where the wand actually has to touch the bar code. Used for applications requiring barcode menu reading. Can be used for library circulation or applications with low volume scanning.
Wearable Scanners Wearable Scanners
Barcode devices that can be placed on your wrist or finger to increase the freedom of movement. Allowing users to comfortably scan in environments with tight spaces or where hands free scanning is required. Ideal for package handling where both hands are required for more than just holding a scanner.
